How Do You Remove The Drawers From A Dresser?

  1. Start by unloading the contents of the drawer you want to remove. (Just do it! We promise — this prep will make everything so much easier…)
  2. Search for any visible hardware that may be holding the drawer in place. Check for screws, nails, pegs, or dowels.
  3. If you see screws, grab a screwdriver to remove them. If you see nails or dowels, find a hammer, flathead screwdriver, or an almighty butter knife to pry them out.
  4. Once the screws, nails, pegs, or dowels or out, carefully slide the drawer out of the dresser. If the drawer is stuck, try wiggling it back and forth to loosen it up.
  5. If the drawer still doesn’t budge, there may be additional hidden hardware, such as a slide or glides. In these cases, you may need to delicately remove a panel or trim piece from the inside of the dresser to access the hidden hardware. This in an exploratory process — go slow!
  6. Once you have removed all of the hardware, the drawer should easily slide out of the dresser.
