How do you hang patio string lights?
To hang patio lights, first, buddy up your string lights to a guy wire. Guy wires are heavy gauge wires that stabilize free-standing structures. Using a guy wire can help reduce the tension on your string lights and increase their longevity. If your string lights have loops for such a purpose, you can thread the guy wire through those, or, alternatively, you can attach with zip ties. To install, begin on the side closest to your electrical outlet. Make sure you’re able to successfully plug in your lights prior to implementing your first anchor. If you’re running your string lights along a permanent structure like a wall or railing, you can secure both the string lights and guy wire with hooks installed at periodic intervals. If your lights will be suspended over your patio, eye-hooks placed at anchor points on both sides can be used. When using multiple light strings, connect the male and female ends between strings as needed. In the event your string lights don’t have end-to-end connectors, install an extension cord.
