How do you design a room?
When designing a room, first decide on how you want your room to function. In the case of a bedroom, do you want it to be a place for sleep? Or a place for sleep and work? Next, consider what pieces of furniture and decor you already own and want to use. Create a wishlist of ones you would like to purchase new (or vintage!), too. Creating a literal mood board or a virtual one via Pinterest can be helpful at this point. Next, measure your floor space and decide on pieces you want to shop for. Note any dimension restrictions, as well. If needed, you will also want to set a budget. Next, consider revisiting your mood boards to narrow down options and make calls on color palette, potential paint colors, and finishes. Create a new inspiration board with final picks, if desired. Now, it’s time to shop! Keep dimensions handy as well as paint and fabric swatches, especially if you’re shopping in person. Lastly, it’s install day! Arrange your new furniture and add decor and accessories as needed to add dimension to the space.
