What made you passionate about interior design? How’d you get your start?

Ever since I was a little girl, I was exposed to my dad always renovating our home (which actually happens to be the home my mom grew up in too!). I found my spark for creativity at that young age and never looked back. I went to college for interior design, sustainable design and business. I started working in hospitality designing restaurants and hotels and then started Lawless Design, working on residential and boutique commercial interiors.

What do you find most compelling about Chairish?

I am a huge advocate for wellness and sustainability with design. I think that vintage is one of the best ways to incorporate these values into your home. Chairish makes it so easy to source and navigate.

How does sustainability factor into your design choices and love of vintage?

Sustainability is imperative to myself and our team. Using vintage pieces has a significant impact. For one, it cuts down on manufacturing, reusing pieces and giving them new life. In addition to sustainability, our team designs with wellness in mind, designing for the overall wellbeing of our clients. We look to bring in vintage pieces that tell a story and add character to their homes. We specifically look for pieces that have a personal connection with our clients on a place they lived, traveled to, or something similar that we’ve gleaned from working with them.

What are three of your favorite pieces in the shop right now?

We opened our Brick and Mortar, the Lawless Design Shoppe, just a couple of months ago. The Late 19th Century Tapestry Chairs is one of my favorite pieces that we have on Chairish. I am also loving this Brutalist Cabinet and this Murano Glass Pendant Light.

Favorite way to create a statement-making moment in a room?

Lighting has always been one of my favorite things to source for and make a statement in a room, especially vintage lighting. A single fixture can completely change the mood of a room.

Do you have any go to color palettes and color combos?

I’ve always been a fan of earth tones and neutral colors. I take a lot of inspiration from nature and the outdoors and bring that inside. Those color palettes feel classic and timeless, something I always want our clients’ homes to be. To evolve with time.

What advice do you have for first-time clients to make their space truly personal?

I would say to stick with what you love and don’t lean into trends too much. Use colors and pieces that speak to you and will make you happy. Our homes should be a personal representation of ourselves.
