We love nothing more than when two major design influencers join forces for one epic collab, and so when legendary rug maker, Momeni, paired up with design blogger extraordinaire (and in-demand interior designer), Erin Gates, we knew we needed in. Lucky for us, the duo was more than happy to share their collection of durable flatweaves, breezy sisals, and nubby wool rugs all rendered in fresh, ready-for-spring colorways and patterns. To learn even more on the partnership, we asked Erin for all the details on the new collection, including which rugs are most likely to be making their way into Casa Gates!

Why Momeni?
I love that they are a family run business and really care about the product they put out into the marketplace, and also really respect designer creativity.
Can you tell us about inspiration for the design?
The inspiration was modern riffs on classic designs that are timeless, comfy, durable and family-friendly. I wanted to create rugs that are affordable but don’t compromise on quality.
What are you favorite rugs for spring?
It’s a toss up between the Appleton (which is a shed-free version of a classic Moroccan rug) or the Porter, which is based on traditional Gabbeh designs but made modern for a funky kid’s room.

What are you favorite rugs for freshening up for a season such as spring or summer?
Our West Shore jute is the perfect spring or summer rug—it’s soft, yet natural fiber and awesome for layering with a smaller vintage rug or one of our flatweave dhurries like the Thompson!
Anything that you especially want design lovers to know about your rugs?
We used lots of wool and natural fibers in this collection, but also some indoor/outdoor materials that are great for homes with kids! They feel lovely, but can basically be hosed off! You’ll also find that some of the styles are handmade, making them an incredible value!
What are your favorite rugs from the collection?
Other than the ones I mentioned above, the Langdon is a favorite with it’s high/low texture and perfect neutral tone. It feels really rich and unique. I also love our faux hides—they’re so great for those who don’t want a real hide, whatever the reason may be. They look so real!
