We’re back with a new guest tastemaker for some quick-fire questions and a mini-curation of some fab Chairish finds!
This week we are joined by artist, Carly Kuhn, or as she’s perhaps better known, The Cartorialist. Carly’s nom de plume efforts have grown from a collection of chic fashion illustrations into a full line of limited edition prints, wallpaper, textiles and jewelry (thanks to an Insta repost from none other than SJP). The Cartorialist has also lent her pen and ink talents to major brands like Dior, Prada, and Glossier (to name a few). You can currently catch Carly’s work in collaboration with the wonderfully nosy @overheardny, now gracing the streets of NYC.
We recently stole a few minutes with Carly to hear about a few of her favorite things, and her most memorable career moment yet. Read on to hear more from The Cartorialist herself!

Most memorable career moment you’ve had so far?
I would say the first time someone got my work tattooed on them. Pretty freakin’ insane/rad.
One talent you wish you had?
To play piano well. I quit when I was in 4th grade and really wish I hadn’t. I can only play budget versions of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” and Counting Crows’ “Colorblind”. Both my brothers and my dad are excellent pianists and nothing makes me happier/seethe with jealousy when a person can plop down at a party to play the piano.
What’s a current trend you hope doesn’t exist in 100 years?
Tiny sunglasses.
