The Height Difference between Bar Stools and Counter Stools

As a general rule, a bar stool is always taller than a counter stool. Bar stools range in height from 28-36 inches, whereas counter stools measure between 24-28 inches. The difference in height is designed to accommodate the height of a standard bar versus a standard kitchen counter. Because they’re a bit taller, bar stools will often come equipped with a footrest at the base to provide additional support, while counter stools are more likely to not include this feature. Additionally, bar stools are often designed with a more decorative or stylish aesthetic in mind, while counter stools tend to be more functional and practical. That said, many bar stool designs can be sourced in counter stool heights.
