A table placed in front of a sofa is called a coffee table. A coffee table is a low table that is situated in the living room or sitting room, usually in front of the sofa. Generally, it is used to host drinks, books, magazines, and other decorative treasures. Coffee tables are typically fabricated of wood, glass, or metal, but can also be constructed of more uncommon materials like stone or laminate. They can be found in an incredible range of styles and designs to match the decor of virtually any room. They can be rectangular, square, round, or oval in shape, and are usually much lower than a dining table or side table so that they are easy to reach from the sofa. Some coffee tables also possess additional built-in functionality, such as storage drawers or shelves, to provide space for organizing and stowing items.
