August Art Gallery is a shop created to host the paintings of Houston artist Brendan Mckeon. Utilizing an abstract expressionist method, color field leanings, and other influences. And by combining these with his intuitive sense of color and line, enables him to convey outer and inner landscapes, the figure, feeling, and emotion in his work. His belief is that a work of art should embody a certain level of complexity and integrity that hopefully continues to challenge, and reveal itself to the viewer.
Brendan's first intrigue about the possibilities of paint and the bend of the brush came from watching his father painting on simple projects around the house. That fascination with cutting in a line, and the way the paint lays down on a surface has never left him. He graduated with a degree in fine arts from Stephen F. Austin university and has been actively painting and sculpting since that time.
